Afton B. Fraser, age 94, of Paducah, passed away at 2:30 PM on February 22, 2017 at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a Licensed Practical Nurse having worked at the old Riverside Hospital which later became Lourdes Hospital and worked as a nurse for Dr. Kenneth Cook, Dr. Woody Burrows and Dr. Brad Mutchler. She ended her nursing career as charge nurse at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Paducah.
She was a member of Paducah Lioness Club where she was active supporter of the Telethon of Stars, was a Kentucky Colonel, Paducah Ambassador and a member of the Red Hat Society. Afton was a member of Bellview Baptist Church.
She is survived by three daughters; Kay Thomasson of Mayfield, KY, Fay Purcell of Eddyville, KY and Marilyn Williams of Symsonia, KY and one son; Richard Lynn Fraser of Clarksville, TN and one brother; Walt Russell of DuQuoin, IL. She leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. 10 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Afton B. Fraser was preceded in death by her mother, Verda Keller Russell Hartline, and her father Walter Ray Russell and step- father Everett Hartline and one son, David Ray Fraser. Her two sisters preceded her, Virginia Turgent and Joy Sexton.
Funeral services for Afton B. Fraser will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services with Rev. Larry Fraser officiating with burial in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation for Mrs. Fraser will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the funeral time of 1:00 pm at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak.
