Services for Alvin H. Joyce, 85, of Paducah will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Bishop Nathan Erickson officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Joyce died at 9:31 a.m. Wednesday at his home.
A native of Golden Pond, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Local 181 and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mr. Joyce was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a beekeeper and a member of the Bluegrass Beekeepers Association.
Surviving are one daughter, Jerry Joyce Berry of Draffenville; one son, John Alvin Joyce of Benton; one sister, Evelyn Lofton of Calvert City; three brothers, Thelbert Joyce of Hardin, Darvin Higgins of Reidland and C.D. Higgins of Dexter; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Genella Chambers Joyce; one daughter, Carolyn Joyce; three sisters; and three brothers. His parents were John Allen Joyce and Ella Merrith Joyce Higgins.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
