Ben Buchanan, 86 of Lone Oak passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at his home. Ben was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church and was a 1951 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School. Ben was a retired conductor for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and a Kentucky Colonel. He was an Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean War. Ben enjoyed fishing, quail hunting, golf and woodworking.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, June Buckingham Buchanan; one son, Greg Buchanan and wife, Marla of Melber; one daughter Becky Bowman and husband, Paul of Paducah; son-in-law, Keith Montgomery of Paducah; four grandchildren, Chad Montgomery and wife, Mary; Ashley Johnson and husband, David; Megan Mitchell and husband, Ryan; and Shannon Bowman; two great grandchildren, Trent Johnson and Addison Johnson; one sister, Ann Rayl, Paducah; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were his daughter, Julie Montgomery; parents, Rollie G Buchanan & Lillis Elliott Buchanan; two sisters, Sarah Berry and LaVanche Cox; six brothers, Thomas, Elliott, Bill, Bob, Gene and Dean Buchanan.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.
