Charles Vail

July 2, 1922 — July 20, 2014

Charles D. Vail, 92, of Kevil, KY died Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 5:15 p.m. at his residence. Charles attended McKendree United Methodist Church and was a native of East Alton, IL. He was a veteran of U.S. Navy, a member of Civil Air Patrol and a member of Instrument Society of America. Charles retired from GAF as an Instrument Mechanic. He enjoyed woodworking, watching wild- life that came into his yard and birds.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Betty Vail; one daughter, Cheryl Rambo of Boaz, KY; three sons, James A. Vail and wife, Barb of Elizabethtown, KY, Raymond H, Vail and wife, Nancy of Sullivan, IN, Richard K. Vail and wife, Robin of Burlington, WI; one sister, Helen Ursula of Wood River, IL; eleven grand-children, Rita (Nick) Davis, Katherine Vail, Teresa (Kurt) Hall, James L. Vail, Julie (Ben) Dowell, Jason (Tammy) Vail, Kevin (Sarah) Vail, Matt Vail, Sunny (Will) Debelak, Deanna (Jeff) Miller, Melissa Kilgore; fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death was parents, Hugh Vail and Alma Loreen Book Vail; son-in-law, Kenneth Rambo, grandson; Tanner McQuiston; grandson -in-law, Jesse Kilgore and granddaughter, Sarah Vail; two brothers, Ralph Vail and Raymond Vail.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bill Miller officiating. Friends may call Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
