Clorinda Amelia "Sis" Turri Covert, 76, of Paducah, died Monday at 5:25pm at Lourdes Hospital.
Clorinda was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 2, 1939 to the late Anthony and Angeline Calcaterra Turri. She attended Cosmetology School and worked in the family business, Turri Italian Foods, until moving to Paducah with her husband, Jim Covert. She worked in the meat department for Boyd's, Gores, and Wal-Mart Meat Departments. She attended both St. John's Catholic Church and St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was very active in the parish.
Clorinda lived to serve her family and their interests became hers. She loved her children and grandchildren, tutoring them all in math as they needed help. She was a homemaker who realized the value of providing a loving environment for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James "Jim" Clyde Covert; daughters, Francine Chumley and husband Marsh of Owensboro and Julia Kotter of Paducah; granddaughters, Kristy Johnson, Olivia Covert, and Melissa Kotter; great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Johnson and Trinity Covert; and siblings, Mary Derlicki and husband Bob, Tony Turri and wife Linda, and Tom Turri and wife Paula all of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Covert; brothers, Frank Turri and Bernie Turri; and her parents.
A funeral mass will be held at 12pm on Friday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Rev. Bruce McCarty officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. There will be no public visitation. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.
A prayer vigil for Cloridinda will be held at the church on Thursday evening from 5-6pm.
Because of her dedication to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, the family would like contributions be placed in the prayer box and a candle lit in her memory.
