With grateful hearts and loving appreciation for his life, the Boeh, Baesler, Creson, and Adams families announce that our wonderful Husband, Dad, and DanDaddy, Daniel Gardner Boeh, D.M.D., passed away on December 25, 2023. The love of his life, Sharron Carlson Boeh, was by his side.
Dan was born October 7, 1942, in Dayton, Kentucky, to Ophelia Emily Gardner Boeh, R.N., and Daniel Henry Boeh, M.D. He grew up in Bellevue, Kentucky, where he was a swimmer and football player at Bellevue High School, graduating in 1960. He attended the University of Kentucky where he earned a degree in Education in 1964 and was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity and the University of Kentucky swim team. He thereafter earned his degree in dentistry (D.M.D.) at UK in 1968 and an advanced dental degree in Periodontics in 1973. Dan also proudly served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970, spending time on active duty in Vietnam.
In 1973, Dr. Boeh established his practice in Paducah, Kentucky, the first periodontal practice in the area, although his family is almost certain he chose Paducah because of the hunting and fishing nearby. Despite the fact that periodontal services were almost always painful and/or expensive, he was loved by many of his patients, who always spoke so highly of him and sent him many gifts for the holidays. He donated dental services to many people in Paducah, volunteered at mobile dental facilities in northern Kentucky, and twice traveled with First Baptist Church of Paducah, KY to donate services to the people of Romania.
Dan lived a wonderful and rich life, full of family, friends, laughter, hunting, fishing, and many good bourbons. Making friends everywhere he went, a few highlights include:
·Their home of over 30 years in Boaz where he and Sharron built a lifetime of loving memories, hosted amazing parties and Christmases, and Dan entertained with his quick-wit, four-wheelers, archery, and target shooting
·“The Farm” in Ballard County, Kentucky, with his buddies hunting deer, turkey, and the occasional rabbit
·Many weekends at Kentucky Lake pulling the Grands - and all their friends - on innertubes and seadoos, and making his famous “DanDaddy Breakfast” and homemade ice cream
·The “beach house” on Sand Key where they vacationed since 1994, wintered since his retirement in 2010, and became a weekend getaway after they moved to Florida in 2021
·Never thinking he would replace a lifetime of friends in Kentucky, he found a new community full of loving friends and more social events than he ever imagined in Wesley Chapel, Florida. Here he made Sharron a cosmopolitan most every night and celebrated his epic 80th birthday surrounded by friends and family… and got a broken pinky finger as a party favor.
Dan is survived by his loving and caring wife of 41 years, Sharron Carlson Boeh, who was his best friend, best business partner, best life partner, and chief caregiver for over half his life. They were an amazing example to their family of what marriage should be. He is also survived by a brother, three daughters, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. They include daughters Caroline Boeh Baesler of Lexington, KY; Shellie Ruoff Creson of Nashville, TN; and Lesley Boeh Adams (husband Luke) of Lexington, KY. Grandchildren include Callie Ruth Baesler, Charles (“Tres”) Richard Baesler III, Daniel Fisher Baesler, Gibeault (“Beau”) Cooper Creson (wife Caroline), Alexander Edward Creson, Julia Barkley Creson, Hillary Joan Adams, and Hannah Ophelia Adams. Dan also has two great-grandchildren, Gibeault Cooper Creson Jr. and Anna James Creson. He is survived by a brother, David Anthony Boeh (wife Mary Jo) of Bellevue, KY.
We must not forget his faithful companion, Bailey, who he doted on more than he ever did his own children. He has also left behind many, many loving friends - too many to mention.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law Betty Jean Houser Schweinhart, his father-in-law David Alfred Carlson, and his loving son-in-law Larry Barkley Creson III.
The family will hold two services for Dan because one is just not enough for the big life that he lived and all the people who loved him.
