David L. Baugus

Paducah, KY

David Baugus, 81, of Paducah, passed away on Friday, January 14, 2023 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Mr. Baugus was a member of Heartland Church where he was an assistant Sunday School Teacher of the Genesis Sunday School Class. David worked 18 years for B.F. Goodrich Chemical Corporation as a Senior Piping Designer and Field Engineer.

He retired as an educator for the Western Kentucky Correctional Facility. He was also a self-employed carpenter, worked in construction and a supervisor and estimator for the Bradford Corporation.

David is survived by his wife, Leslie “Sugar” Short Baugus; a daughter, Tonya Collins Stamps (Willie) of Blytheville, Arkansas; three sons, Dawayne Baugus (Jo) of Paducah, Ricke Baugus of Paducah, Brant Collins (Amy) of Spring, Texas; seven grandchildren, Dallas Baugus, Bobby Baugus (Hannah), Austin Baugus, Jade Baugus, Tennessee Baugus, Jordan Ryans (Devin) and Peyton Stamps (McKenzie); two sisters, Janice Newton of Paducah and Lana Gertz of Chicago, Illinois; a brother, Forrest “Tony” Baugus (Cheryl) of Paducah; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Craig Collins and Roger Collins; a grandson, Nicholos Baugus; a sister, Sue Harris. His parents were Herbert Cleveland Baugus and Merdell Marie Spain Baugus.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Nathan Joyce and Rev. Glenn Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
