Dorothy "Marcella" Hayden-Brewer, 87, formerly of Paducah, died at her home in McKinney, TX at 8:16 pm on Friday, December 13, 2013.

Marcella was born September 9, 1926 in St John, KY to the late George Martin Hayden and Mary Blanche Gibson and married Thomas Leon Brewer on August 14, 1944. Mrs. Marcella was a homemaker, traveler, quilter, and a longtime member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Paducah and St Jude in Allen, Texas. In 1954, she was a founding member of St Pius the Tenth Catholic Church in Calvert City, Ky. She attended grade school at St John and Farley before graduating from Reidland High School in 1944.

Marcella was a 9th generation American, descending from Catholic colonist and pioneer Francis Heydon who emigrated from Watford, England thru Jamestown, VA about 1650. Francis and his wife Thomasine Butler acquired land grants and moved to Maryland in 1661. Their great grandson, William moved to what is now Holy Cross, KY in 1785. William's wife, Elizabeth Thompson was killed by Native Americans on the Rolling Fork river before reaching Holy Cross. William's son, Thomas, moved his family to Hickman County after 1800. Marcella's grandfather , Thomas Ambrose served in the Confederacy. Her parents, George and Mary were farmers and moved from St John to the Nine Pines 2 story house on Husband road after the 1937 flood.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas Danny and wife Stella of Tremont, IL, Glen Alan and wife Joyce of Pekin, IL, Lester Kent and wife Marsha of Groveland, IL; two daughters, Rebecca Ann Leonard and husband Lee of Allen, TX; Debra Kay Frey and husband Eddy of Murphy, TX; one sister, Mary Annette Liedecker of Paducah; 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leon Brewer; her parents, George Martin Hayden and Mary Blanche Gibson; 2 brothers, James Ambrose and William Dennis; 4 sisters, Anna Rose Balkey, Gladys Pauline Travis, Ida Catherine Hines, and Mary Jeanette Hines.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 am Sunday December 22, 2013 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Father Uwem Enoh officiating. Burial will be held at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00pm Saturday December 21, 2013 at the Lone Oak chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home. A rosary will conclude visitation at 7:00pm.
