Edward E. Hough, age 94, of Paducah, KY, passed away at 10:45 p.m. on July 19, 2015 at Superior Care Home.
Ed was born to Winfred and Goldie Stewart Hough in Paducah, KY on July 31, 1920. He graduated from Augusta Tilghman High School and Paducah Junior College. Ed served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the North African and Italian campaign earning three Bronze Stars. In 1946 he married Barbara Nell Chappell, his wife of 68 years. They moved to Memphis, TN where he began his long career in the beauty supply industry. In 1955, they returned to Paducah with their two daughters and managed Heil Beauty Supply. In 1968 they bought the St. Louis based business and he was the CEO of the company until its sale in 1999 to Alberto-Culver. At that time the company had grown from 2 sales people to 70 with 36 stores and 150 employees.
Ed was a former member of Kiwanis, board member of the Paducah Chamber of Commerce, director of Peoples First National Bank and twice president of the Country Club of Paducah. He was a former Chairman of the Board of First Christian Church, an Elder Emeritus, a Duke of Paducah and a Kentucky Colonel. From 1971 - 1991, Ed was a board member and treasurer of the National Beauty and Barber Supply Institute.
Ed was an avid golfer and a passionate reader. He loved business and he and Barbara also traveled extensively and enjoyed many trips with some of their closest friends. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and mentoring his grandchildren and many employees throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Pamela (George) Boland and Renee (Steve) Tilley all of Paducah, KY; brother, James Hough of Moores Hill, IN; grandchildren, Reid Boland of Boca Raton, FL, Whitney Boland of Gardiner, NY, Amy (Matt) Lozier of Ft. Thomas, KY and Drew Martin of Louisville, KY; step grandchildren, Chris (Sarah) Tilley, Jon Tilley and Jennifer Tilley all of Louisville, KY; great grandchildren, Oliver Lozier and Georgia Lozier of Ft. Thomas, KY; and a niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Hough and his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Mr. Phil Justice officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour of 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. A private family entombment will take place earlier that day.
