Frances Katterjohn Schmidt, 93, of Paducah passed away at 6:25AM Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Paducah. To many she was known as Mawmaw.
She ran a daycare out of her home for 42 years and was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church.
Surviving are her two daughters, Caroline Schmidt Roach and Teresa Schmidt (Wm. Kenneth) Blackburn all of Paducah, the father of the Roach grandchildren, Charles Lynn Roach; seven grandchildren, James Lynn Roach, Wm. Kevin (Tammy) Blackburn, Charles Keith (Judy) Roach, Amy Blackburn, Stephen Andrew (Suzanne) Roach, Jill (Jeff) Mudd and Kerri (Keith) Eads; thirteen great-grandchildren, Rachel (Eric) Dunsford, Kasey (Jon) Clement, Zachery (Shamika) Roach, Wm. Kyle Newton, Travis Keith Newton, Colton Roach, Alyssa Roach, Leigh Ann Blackburn, Taylor Mudd, Hayley Mudd, Flynn Mudd, Jake Brotherson and Max Brotherson; one great-great-grandchild, Kale Newton and one niece, Susan (Johnnie) Draffen.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James Edward Schmidt; her parents, Fred and Lucinda Katterjohn; one sister, Martha Katterjohn Puckett; two brothers, Johnny Mott Katterjohn and Hugh Edward Katterjohn and one grandson, James W. Blackburn.
Funeral services will be at 2:00PM Sunday, April 6, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Jeff Wallace officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah. Friends may call from 5:00-8:00PM on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
