George L. Eyer, 83, of Paducah, KY, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
Born and raised in Tyrone, PA, he transferred to the area as a young man for what became his life-long career, finally retiring as Head Supervisor of Power and Recovery, from Westvaco Corporation after 45 years. Though his roots inspired his devotion for the Pittsburgh Steelers, he soon became a passionate supporter of any team his children were a member of, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, and a dedicated fan of the UK Basketball program, spending many evenings with his family cheering on his "Cats". However much George enjoyed sports, serving God was first and foremost in his life. He was an active member of Concord United Methodist Church, singing in the choir and participating in various committees and activities, in order to spread the Word. George also took great pleasure in gardening, hunting, traveling, camping, grilling out, and was an avid angler - this hobby is carried on by his grandson, who became his "fishing buddy" at a very early age. While George will be missed by his loved ones here on earth, they are comforted by the fact that he is now in heaven with his bride of 60 years, Janet, and his oldest son, George.
Mr. Eyer is survived by his daughters, Lisa K. Boss and husband Sam, of Paducah, Sherri Maliszewski and husband Steve, of Loveland, CO; his son, Mark S. Eyer and wife Heidi, of Paducah; his grandchildren, Jeremy Burkett, Jason Burkett, Kayla Boss, Grant Eyer, Katrice Maliszewski, Lucas Maliszewski; his eight great grandchildren.
Mr. Eyer was preceded in death by his wife, Janet L. Corrigan Eyer; his son, George L. Eyer, III; his parents, George L. Eyer, Sr. and Ida Mae Welsh Eyer.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services, with Rev. Earl Dickerson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
