Gerald Kanachki

Gerald "Jerry Allan Kanachki, 73, of Reidland, KY went to be with our Lord on Saturday November 22, 2014 at 5:11 p.m. from Baptist Health of Paducah. Jerry was born April 25, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan. He served as a Detroit police officer for 17 years earning several accommodations and a Purple Heart. Jerry became a Security Guard for Western Baptist Hospital in 1996 working himself into the position of Chief of Security until he retired in 2012. He was a member of the Detroit Police and Fire Retirement Association, Fraternal Order of Police(Retired) and an officer and past Governor in the Paducah Moose Lodge #285. Jerry was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia "Pat" Kanachki; daughters, Dawn Mahmet and husband James of Palma, KY and Kristie Carroll and husband Tim of Reidland, KY; sons, Brett Kanachki of Okinawa, Japan and Kevin Kanachki of Warren, Michigan; brother-in-laws, Edwin Riley and wife Judy of Charlotte, NC and Carl Riley of Harrison, TN; 6 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Margaret Buzan Kanachki.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Corey Aker and Rev. David Appold officiating. Entombment will follow in the Woodlawn memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
