Herbert Leo "Red" Forbis, 88, of Paducah passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009, at his home.
He was born May 1, 1921, to Fred Monroe Forbis and Hester Windsor Forbis of Sikeston, Mo.
Mr. Forbis was a long-standing member of United Central Presbyterian Church of Paducah and was self-employed for several years in service station maintenance and retired 23 years ago from Hannan Supply Company in Paducah. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Surviving are two sons, Barry Forbis and wife Michelle of Denver and David Forbis and wife Janie of Calvert City; one brother, Glenn Forbis and wife Mary Ann of Sikeston; six grandchildren, Benjamin, Kelsey, Jensen, Alec, Will and Madison.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Alma Louise "Brownie" Forbis and two brothers, Linley Forbis of St. Louis and Lloyd Forbis of Sikeston.
Funeral services for Mr. Forbis will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Bill Farr officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
