Services for Irene Elizabeth Peeler of Paducah will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at Lindsey Funeral Home with Dr. Jamie Broome conducting the service. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Irene joined her loved ones at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Superior Care Nursing Home. Mrs. Irene lived her entire life on North 13th Street in Paducah. She attended Whittier Elementary School and Washington Junior High. She earned her GED, with honors, when she was 61 years old.
She was a childcare worker, both for Immanuel Baptist Church and privately, for 27 years. She was a member of the original Gospel Mission Church with Brother Joe Gardner.
Mrs. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Peeler, and her only brother, Oscar Mayberry. She leaves behind her only child, Kathy Peeler of Brookport, Ill.
Mrs. Irene touched many lives, both through her career in caring for children and her numerous hobbies. She loved sewing, quilt making, embroidery and making and dressing ceramic dolls. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of whatever charity or organization you're kind enough to contribute in her honor. Her beautiful blue eyes and sweet smile will be missed. She has gone to heaven, but will be missed.
