John Thomas Artis, 60, of Paducah, formerly of Hanford California passed 12:30 pm Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at his residence.
He was a retired right of way technician for Shell Oil Company, and a United States Army Veteran. John was a loving father and husband who would do anything for his friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley J. Graves Artis; his mother Verlie Marie Skinner Laughlin; one daughter, Crystal P. Artis, of LaCenter; two sons John Thomas Artis Jr. and wife Gilea of Paducah, Jeremy Dain Artis and wife Debby of Belknap IL; one sister; seven, grandchildren, Fernie Porras, Paula Vines, Michael Vines, Aaron Emmerson, Jade Artis, Ethan Artis, Collin Brown; and two great grandchildren, Jasmine McCoy and Ryden Owen.
John was preceded in death by his father Jimmy D. Artis; one sister; and one brother.
A graveside service for John will be 1:00 pm Sunday February, 16, 2014 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Kenneth Hall officiating. There will be no public visitation.
