John Parks

April 17, 1935 — May 3, 2008

John Berdet Parks, 73 years of age on Thursday, April 17, 2008, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 3:30 a.m. at his home.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Star Stroud Parks; two sons, John M. Parks of Paducah and Jason B. Parks, wife Ashlea and two granddaughters, Emily and Sarah, all of Lexington; one stepdaughter, Mitzi Stuart, husband Brett and one stepgrandson, Will, all of Paducah; one stepson, Tommy Morgan and one stepgranddaughter, Peyton Layne, both of Paducah; one stepson, Kevin Morgan and one stepgrandson, Sean, both of San Mateo, Calif.; and one sister, Barbara Ann Bradley Hoeberg and husband Chuck of Bishop, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clois B. Parks and Mable Alice Bennett Bradley; and a twin brother, Clifton Parks.
He was a member of Calvary Christian Fellowship, Wickliffe. He was loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
John was an interior designer and the first in this region to become a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). His places of employment included teaching Art at Paducah Tilghman High School, interior design, sales, and co-owner of McBride Interiors, interior design and sales at Wise's House of Fine Furniture and Mattress Co., Rust & Martin and Fleming Furniture. He loved all of his art students. He was euphoric when decorating and it always showed in his work.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with the Rev. Joe Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from noon until the service hour Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
Pallbearers will be Terry Newberry, Kelly Brown, Everette Qualls, David Holmes, Michael Beck and Nathan Vance. Serving as Honorary Pallbearer is Lewis Allmon.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Lourdes Hospice, P.O. Box 7100, Paducah, KY 42002-7100 or American Cancer Society, 3140 Parisa Dr., Paducah, KY 42001.
