John Warren

April 1, 1927 — January 13, 2013

John Martin Warren, 85, of Paducah died Sunday, January 13, 2013, at his residence.

John was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and attended Broadway Baptist Church.

John was a lifetime member of VFW and DAV. At 17 years old, he lied about his age and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the Pacific, Korea, Germany and Vietnam. During the Cold War, he patrolled the border between East and West Berlin. He received six Good Conduct medals, a Pacific Theatre Operations Medal and a Combat Infantry Badge. John was a certified IBM Programmer Analyst. While residing in California, he served as Sr. Clerk/Cash Receipts for American National Insurance and Farmer Insurance Company. Most recently, he worked as a bagger at Kroger's.

Survivors include one daughter, Rosmarie Williams, Gainesville, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Christa Peischer, Germany; three grandchildren, Sharon Reid, Vanessa Mignon Sears and Calvin L. Sears Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death were his wife, Carolyn Copeland Warren; parents, Benjamin Harrison Warren and Myrtle Lee Poole Warren; one son, Larry Martin Warren; three sisters, Mildred Warren, Dorothy Warren and Valeria Warren Bailey; and one brother, Benjamin Herman Warren.

Services will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner and Orr Funeral Home with the Revs. Paul Hatcher and Steve Gorham officiating. Entombment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites.

Friends may call at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner and Orr Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, after 11 a.m. until service time.
