Jolene Parker Dykes, 77, of Paducah, KY, passed peacefully at Western Baptist Hospital and went to be with her Lord at 6:25 pm Thursday, October 25th.
Jolene was born September 16th, 1941, in Paducah, KY. She was a 1959 graduate of Lone Oak High School. She had an extensive nursing career and retired from Paducah Women’s Clinic, working with Dr.’s Kim, Price, and Cardenas for over 40 years. She loved being with her family and friends, gardening with flowers and shrubs, gospel singing, and volunteering with the Benevolent Program at Lone Oak Church of Christ. She was strong in her Christian faith and an active member of Lone Oak Church of Christ for decades. Her loving smile and big blue eyes would bring comfort to everyone she encountered.
She is survived by her son, Brent C. Dykes (Carol) of Jackson, TN, her daughter Joy Dykes Jones of Paducah, KY, her grandson Anson D. (Megan) Dykes of Paducah, four step grandchildren Clay, Adam, Libby, and Elise Simpson, two great grandchildren, Drason and Radley, two sisters-in-law, Barbara Barnhill (Bill) of Paragould, AR and Judith Peck of Calvert City, KY, and two brothers-in-law, Donald R. Dykes of Grand Rivers, KY, and Richard E. Dykes (Karen) of Calvert City, KY; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Linnie Pepper Parker, her husband Charles A. Dykes, her grandson Draffen C. Dykes, her son-in-law Terry Jones, father-in-law A. Richard Dykes, mother-in-law Hazel Rose Dykes, and sister-in-law Sondra (Sonnie) Hamlin.
Funeral services will take place on Sunday, October 28th, at 3:00 p.m. at Milner and Orr Funeral Home in Paducah, with Paul Wingfield presiding. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday until service time of 3:00 p.m. A private burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 29th at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
