Lucinda Tate Ragland, 63, of Paducah, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at 10:11 p.m. at Baptist Health Paducah, after a lengthy battle with ALS. Through her strong faith in Christ, she has won the battle and is now at home with her heavenly Father.
Born November 8, 1950 at Riverside Hospital in Paducah. Lucinda was a 1968 graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School and a 1971 graduate of Murray State University, where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She was also a teacher and a homemaker.
Lucinda was an active member of First Baptist Church of Paducah up until her passing. During her time in Paducah she was a member of various garden clubs, the Charity League of Paducah and a number of bridge clubs. She enjoyed gardening, loved the beach and was an avid reader and devoted to studying the Bible.
Prior to her adult years in Paducah, Lucinda and her husband lived in Houston and Dallas, Texas, Franklin and Nashville, Tenn., and Louisville.
She was the daughter of Bettie Bass Tate and the late John Dean Tate.
She is survived by her husband of forty two years, Bill E. Ragland Jr.; her daughter, Elizabeth Ragland Neelley and husband Jason of Metropolis, Ill.; her mother, Bettie Bass Tate of Paducah; her sisters, Lorna Tate Hite and husband Greg of Florence and Mona Tate Bolin and husband Joe of Murray; her nieces, Juliana Hite of Tampa, Fla., and Morgan Hutchinson and husband Brett of Murray; and one great niece, Olive Bee. She is also survived by one brother-in-law, Mark Ragland and wife Betsy of Nashville, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Dean Tate; and her grandparents, Durward and Mable Bass and Charles and Mona Tate.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Paducah. Revs. Charles Moore and Jamie Broome will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Monday, December 9, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
