Maretta J. Wyatt, 79, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., passed away Friday, January 4, 2013, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

She was born Wednesday, June 7, 1933, in Paducah to Cyrus P. and Lura (Merritt) Owen.

Maretta was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church as well as Liberty Baptist Church in Hickory, Kentucky. She worked for Sears and Roebuck before becoming a homemaker. She loved to sew and shared her passion with others around the world with dolls and other items to help in the mission field. She also enjoyed assisting with election polls in both Missouri and Kentucky.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dalton Wyatt of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; three children, Ed (Tanna) Wyatt of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Mark (Kim) Wyatt of Newnan, Ga., Kathy (Bobby) Gifford of Clinton, Ky.; brother, David (Lynn) Owen of Mayfield, Ky.; and five grandchildren, Janna Wyatt, Brittany (Matt) Newton, Austin Wyatt, Blake Wyatt, Ian Jameson.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2013, at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau. Funeral service will follow at noon at the church with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating.

Visitation will also be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Liberty Baptist Church, 7581 State Route 1241, Hickory, KY, 42051. Funeral service will follow at noon at the church with the Rev. Wayne Berry officiating.

Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah, Kentucky.

Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
