Mary Waltman

Mary Evelyn Waltman, 91, of Paducah, passed away at 8:47 a.m. on June 1, 2011, at Western Baptist Hospital.

Evelyn was born in Paducah on April 17, 1920. She was the daughter of J.R. and Carman Fraizer Wills. Evelyn grew up in Paducah and was a 1938 graduate of Augusta Tilghman High School. She was married to James Allen Waltman, also of Paducah, in 1939.

Evelyn was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Paducah and a dedicated Christian. Her joy and faith in Christ were the cornerstones of her life.

Evelyn was a golfer and avid tennis player. She continued to play competitive tennis into her eighties. She taught many children and young people the game and used it as an opportunity to talk about her Lord.

She is survived by two children, Vicki Waltman Wallace and husband, Gary, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Terry Waltman and wife, Mary Ann Shaw, of Paducah. She has four grandsons, Kent Waltman of Birmingham, Ala., Justin Wallace of Charleston, S.C., Benjamin Wallace of West Palm Beach, Fla., and John Wallace of Raleigh, N.C. She has one great-grandson, Brooks Wallace of Charleston, S.C., and two great-granddaughters, Evelyn Ramsey Waltman and Ann Elizabeth Waltman, both of Birmingham, AL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one sister, Peggy Wynn.

Funeral services for Mary Evelyn Waltman will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Milner and Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Rev. Jamie Broom officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011, at the funeral home.
