Melva Jean Cook, (Nana), 76 of West Paducah, peacefully went home to be with our Father in Heaven on Friday February 10, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
Born on May 11, 1940 in Graves county to Oscar and Eva Waid. She had eight siblings. She married John Harrison Cook on January 13. 1957 in Alcorn, MS. They moved to Kentucky and had three children. She worked as a child care provider for several years.
Her children are two sons, Bobby (Jennifer) Cook of Paducah; Ronnie (Karen) Cook of West Paducah; One daughter Treasa Cook of Benton.
Mrs. Cook had six grandchildren; Crystal (Aaron) Smith of Calvert City; Dwayne (Kayla) Henson of Sharpe; Daniel (Kelsey) Cook of Paducah; Krista (Shawn) Seldat of Paducah; Dylan (Remi) Cook of Paducah, and Nathan Cook of West Paducah
She had four great-grandchildren and two on the way. Hailey Henson of Sharpe; Bella and Saraiah Seldat of Paducah; Blakley Cook of Paducah; Landon Shane Henson of Sharpe and Baby Smith of Calvert City, KY.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Harrison Cook, her parents Oscar and Eva Waid. Her siblings; Bill Waid, Jack Waid, James Waid, Joe Marion Waid, Otha Waid, Coy Waid, Charles Waid and Joretta Garrison.
Funeral Service will be 12 noon Saturday February 18, at Lindsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Hughes and Rev. Wayne Carter officiating. Visitation will be Saturday Feb 18, from 10 am to funeral hour. Interment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
