Paul Moore

Paul Edwin Moore, age 88, passed away at 1:30 PM Sunday, October 15, 2017 at his home in Lone Oak. Paul was of Methodist faith, a master electrician and retired as Paducah City Building Inspector.

Paul was born at home on Washington Street in Paducah, KY on August 7, 1929 to Paul Leslie and Opal K. Zett (Ross) Moore. At age sixteen, Paul joined the US Navy. He ate bananas all the way to Louisville on the train in order to make the minimum weight enlistment. His service aboard the USS Dayton in occupied Japan and the Mediterranean was one of the high points of his life and his stories about his time in the Navy filled many a conversation.

Paul returned to Paducah and became an electrician at the Illinois Central Shops. Foir many years after that, Paul served as the Building Inspector for the City of Paducah and was instrumental in writing much of the Kentucky State electrical code.

Surviving are four grandchildren, Matthew (Andrea) Moore, Josh (Jessica) Moore, Jenny Moore and Jared Moore; fifteen grandchildren, Taylor, Matthew, Will, Mercedes, Madelyn, Abbey, Hadyn, Mikindri, Ely, Michael, McCall, Brody, Eva, Brooke & Blake; one brother-in-law, Allen Gildersleeve of West Paducah, KY along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death was his wife of 66 years, Ella Hansen Moore; two sons, Valor (Val) Moore and William Charles (Bubba) Moore; one brother, Donovan Moore and two sisters, Ida Mae Rees and Myrla K. Gildersleeve and his parents.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2017 at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with military rites. Friends may visit with the family Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 11:00 AM until the service time at 1:00 PM at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
