Roger Hunt

July 30, 1926 — July 27, 2016

Roger F. Hunt, age 89, of Paducah, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at Baptist Health Paducah.

Mr. Hunt, a man of strong faith, was a longtime choir member and deacon of Lone Oak First Baptist Church. Raised on a family farm near Melber, he served our country after graduation as a U.S. Army corporal in WWII, with postings in Okinawa and Korea. Mr. Hunt married his high school sweetheart and they shared a lifetime of love together.

Mr. Hunt enjoyed a 37-year career with Union Carbide and Martin Marietta, where he retired in 1990 as maintenance supervisor. He had many wonderful friends and a special love for his family. And he truly loved the game of golf.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Eidson; his daughter, Kathy Hunt Collier (Phil, Louisville) and his son, James Hunt (Grand Rivers); one sister, Wilma Seay; a grandson, Thomas Hunt Collier (Holly, Chicago), and a granddaughter, Carol Harston (Drew, Durham, NC); and two great-grandchildren, James Harston and Collier Harston (Durham, NC).

Mr. Hunt was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Herbert Thomas Hunt, and siblings Gladys Barkley, Everett Hunt and Milton Hunt.

Visitation will take place this Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Lone Oak First Baptist Church, followed by a funeral services at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Martin, Dr. Isaac McDonald, and Rev. Carol Harston officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
