Roscoe Franklin Keeling age 77, died at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Superior Care Home. Roscoe was a member and Deacon Emeritus of Lone Oak First Baptist Church where he ran the sound, served on mission trips and many committees. He was instrumental in starting the Men's Prayer Breakfast and was also a faithful usher and greeter.
After graduation from Lone Oak High School in 1956, Roscoe attended the Mohler Barber College in Memphis, TN. He was the owner and operator of Lone Oak Barber Shop for over 42 years. Roscoe began his barbering career in the basement of his parent's home cutting his basketball teammates hair. Roscoe was an avid basketball fan having run the scoreboard/clock for Lone Oak High School and Paducah Community College Indians basketball games for many years. He was a huge 'Big Blue Fan" of the University of Kentucky Basketball. In earlier years he was very instrumental in helping to start Lone Oak Khoury League Baseball and softball leagues in the Lone Oak Ball Park.
He owned and ran Mario's Pizza and Steak House in Lone Oak for many years. Roscoe held the honor of being named a Kentucky Colonel and "Duke of Paducah." Roscoe's vegetable gardens were always producing more than his family could use so he was always sharing his bounty with others. He took pride in keeping his garden weeded, tilled and neat. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends camping, boating, water skiing and riding motorcycles.
Survivors include his wife of 58 plus years, Ruth Ross Keeling, three sons, Danny Keeling (Tonya), Tony Keeling(Cindy), Nicky Keeling (Jill); one daughter, Torrie Buchanan (Mark) all of Paducah, KY; nine grandchildren, Lorrie Kenney (Nick) of Louisville, KY, Andy Keeling (Nickki), Ashlee Gregory (Chris), Katee Adams ( Jared), Ross Buchanan, Luke Keeling, Justin Keeling, Payden Harned and Paxton Harned all of Paducah, KY; seven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were parents. E.L. Keeling & Jessie Wyatt Keeling; two brothers, Fred Keeling, Otis Keeling and one sister Mary Burnett.
Services will be held Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lone Oak First Baptist Church with Revs. Mike Williams, Bob Martin and Dr. Willis Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lone Oak Chapel Milner & Orr Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning at the church.
