Services for Ruth Keown Farmer, 89, of Mayfield, formerly of Paducah, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. The Rev. Don James and the Rev. Larry Lewis will officiate. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Farmer died at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Green Acres Health Care in Mayfield.
A native of Fordsville, Ky., Mrs. Farmer was valedictorian of her high school graduating class. She had worked as a clerk for the Credit Bureau and the Will County Clerk's Office in Joliet, Ill. She also served as secretary for Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Farmer was a member of Reidland Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She had also served as pianist for Whitesville Baptist Church and Joliet Baptist Church.
Mrs. Farmer is survived by two daughters, Pat Stinson and her husband, Larry, of Mayfield, and Beverly Bandman and her husband, Don, of Paducah; one son, Larry Farmer and his wife, Monnie, of Hartford, Ky.; two sisters, Wilma James of Owensboro, Ky., and Lena Butcher of Toledo, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Stephen Stinson, Kevin Stinson, Eric Stinson, Melanie Frye, Greg Evans, Tricia Sirls, Rachel Hall and Stephen Farmer; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Farmer was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Loren Farmer; two sisters and two brothers. Her parents were Floyd V. and Mary Alpha Brown Keown.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
