Ruth Powell

Ruth H. Powell, 96, of Paducah, formerly of Princeton, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Friday, November 15, 2013, in her home and surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Powell was born in Clovis, N.M. on October 16, 1917 to the late Richard Powell and Blanch Hill Hobgood. She was a secretary at Lone Oak High School from 1957 to 1973, a church elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church, were she served as bookkeeper until 2012. She also worked at Draughons Business College in Paducah until retirement at age sixty-two.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Lindsey of Paducah and Danna Powell Gardner and husband Michael of Paducah; three grandchildren, Tony Wilson and fiancA�A e Dana Elliott of Martin, Tenn., Stephanie Raney of Paducah and Jamie Lindsey and wife Sheena of Columbus, Ohio; and five great-grandchildren, Payton Raney, Gabriella Lindsey, Annika Lindsey, Seth Daniels and Zac Elliott.

Mrs. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, William R. "Bill" Powell who passed away in 1991; her parents, Richard Powell Hobgood and Blanche Hill Hobgood; one sister, Robbie Lou Lowrey; and one son-in-law, Larry Lindsey.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time.
