Sara D. Hickey, 93, of Paducah, Kentucky passed away at 6:27 p.m. Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Baptist Health Paducah. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania. Sara was retired from the Paducah Board of Education and had worked for Weight Watchers. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was active in the United Methodist Women Society. Sara along with her husband, Jim, were active in the McCracken County Jail Ministry and the Kentucky State Penitentiary Prison Ministry. She volunteered at Martha’s Vineyard and was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary.
Sara is survived by her five daughters, Martha Koike and husband Toshio of Troy, Michigan, Sally Ann Woolwine and husband, Teddy of Christianburg, Virginia, Ruth Ann Hook and husband, Lee of Paducah, Kentucky, Peggy Arima and husband, Kiyoshi of Marysville, Ohio and Carolyn Smith and husband, Keith of Paducah, Kentucky; sister, Nancy Yderstad of Lafayette, Louisianna; thirteen grandchildren, Brittany Vest, Brandon Dublin, Ashley Hook, Ryan Hook, Leann Kersey, Sarah Patrick, Jonathan Koike, Rachel Koike, Jacob Arima, Eric, Arima, Emi Arima, Daniel Smith and Alliyson Smith; twenty one great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. “Jim” Hickey; sister, Bette Tippins; Brother, Donald Dunlope and a grandson, James Matthew Smith. Her parents were Fred and Sarah Fox Dunlope.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Susan Engle officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
