Shirley Gatton

February 13, 1938 — October 21, 2014

Shirley Gatton, 76, of Paducah, formerly of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 8:15 am on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at her residence.

She was a retired dispatcher for the Mesa, Arizona City School System. She was a member of Heartland Worship Center and was actively involved in Sisters 'n Stitches.

She is survived by her two daughters, Shirley Kim Hall and husband Kenneth of Paducah, Sheila McNichols and husband Kevin of Metropolis; stepdaughter, Judith Hall and husband Jim of Ohio; stepson, Roger Gatton and wife Linda of Kansas; one sister, Mearle Lambert; two brothers Cliff Hammonds and Bobby Hammonds; six grandchildren, William J. Hatfield and wife Bridie, Kristen Brooke Durham and husband Tom, Brandi Kay Quint and husband Jacob, Melissa Dawn Paul and husband Buz, Leslie Ann Glass and husband Marc, Kyle Wayne McNichols; ten great grandchildren, Emily Hatfield, Carter Quint, Max Quint, Harley Durham, Layna Durham, Jack Paul, Charli Paul, Halle Glass, Emma Glass, Madeline Glass; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Gatton; two sisters; and one brother. Her parents were, Percey and Ethel Burington Hammonds.

A graveside service for Shirley will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, October 24, 2014 Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Marc Glass officiating. William Hatfield, Kyle McNichols, Tom Durham, Jake Quint, Buz Paul, and Marc Glass will serve as pallbearers.

There will be no visitation.

Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
