Thomas Eberhart

Thomas J. Eberhart, 85 of Paducah, KY (formerly of Chicago, IL) passed away at 6:38 AM Monday, January 20, 2014 at Parkview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Paducah.

Mr. Eberhart was born February 28, 1928 in Chicago, IL to Matthew & Julia Haggerty Eberhart. He attended Wilson Jr. College in Chicago and served in the US Army during the Korean War.

Upon discharge from the Army, Tom joined the Chicago Police Department where he served with distinction, first as a patrolman for 10 years and then as a detective for 16 years. Tom received several commendations from the Police Commissioner for his dedication to duty, excellent detective work and the resulting praise for him and the department from the Chicago citizens whom he served until his retirement from the Chicago Police Department in 1981. After retirement Tom moved to Mena, AK and then to Paducah, KY which was the roots of his wife.

Tom was preceded in death by parents; his spouse of 37 years, Laverne Boyd Eberhart; a brother, Jimmy Eberhart and two sisters, Dorothy Feller and Betty Eberhart.

Tom is survived by nieces and nephews.

There will be no services. Entombment will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah. Arrangements are being handled by the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Paducah.
