Virginia Barnes

June 12, 1918 — January 7, 2009

Watseka Barnes, 90, of Reidland died at 2:36 p.m. Wednesday at Calvert City Convalescent Center.
Mrs. Barnes was a member of Reidland Church of Christ. She was a former member of the McCracken County Homemakers and was a former Homemaker of the Year. She was also a Duchess of Paducah. Mrs. Barnes and her husband, the late James Robert Barnes, were the founders of Barnes Lumber Company.
She is survived by two sons, James Michael Barnes and Anthony M. Barnes, both of Paducah; three daughters, Wywanna Walraven of Springfield, Mo., Inez Hubbard of Symsonia and Michelle Hinson of Benton; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and five nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister and one nephew. Her parents were Rube and Ina York Cope.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hughes Funeral Home of Paducah with Terrell Lee officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
