Virginia Halstead

Virginia Deweese Halstead, 88, of Melber, Kentucky, passed away at 9:59 A.M. Thursday, September 13, 2018 at her home.

Virginia was born on February 25, 1930 in Cairo, Illinois to Vester and Ila Mae Deweese. She was a longtime member of New Concord Baptist Church, a member of the Eastern Star and the Homemakers group. She had been employed by the Florsheim Shoe Factory.

Mrs. Halstead is survived by her sons, Steve L. Halstead (Judy), Bruce Lynn Halstead (Melissa), all of Melber; her grandchildren, Mickey Halstead, Gina Halstead Black, Casey Halstead, Thomas Halstead; 14 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Halstead was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Ernest Eugene Halstead; her parents, Vester Deweese and Ila Deweese Bailey; her sister, Dorothy Peck; her brother, Edward Howard Deweese.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral with Bro. Joe McKee officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Saturday at the Lone Oak Chapel.
