Virginia Smiley

Virginia Francis (Duncan) Smiley, 80, of Paducah, went to be with her Lord and Savior on her birthday, January 18 at 11:52 a.m. She passed away peacefully at Western Baptist hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and homemaker, and spent her time making sure everyone was safe and secure.

She was a member of Breakthrough Worship Center (formerly Full Gospel Tabernacle) and a former Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Jerry Smiley; her daughters, Janice Carroll of Paducah, Karen Sue Edwards and husband Mike of Paducah, Victoria Nichols and husband Waymond of Jacksonville, Fla., and Laura Nethery and husband Steve of Paducah; her sons, David Freeman and wife Michelle of Paducah and Ronnie J. Freeman and wife Renee of Paducah; her sisters, Mary Crane and husband Roscoe of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Wilma Trevathan and husband Jack of Lexington, Ky.; her brothers, C D Duncan and wife Carol of Sevierville, Tenn., and Lonnie Duncan and wife Judy of Fulton, Ky.; her grandchildren, Jason Carroll and wife Jami of Cadiz, Misty Freeman of West Palm Beach, Fla., April Freeman of Paducah, Chris Miller and husband Casey of Paducah, Cory Edwards of Paducah, Matthew J Freeman of Paducah, Brad Shaw of Paducah, Jennifer Pitts and husband Kyle of Jacksonville, Fla., Jonathan Nichols and wife Breeze of Connecticut, Charles Nethery and wife Adana of Paducah, and Levi Nethery of Paducah; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, Tilford and Euple (Downs) Duncan.

Services for Mrs. Smiley will be held at Breakthrough Worship Center, located at 1801 Guthrie Avenue in Paducah, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, with the Rev. Jeremy Beggs officiating with burial following at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah Monday after 5 p.m.
